Brian King

Brian King is the owner and managing attorney of King Law Offices PLLC. He has been practicing law for more than a decade, and is a lifelong resident of Rutherford County. Brian is a member of the North and South Carolina bars, and maintains active cases in both states. Brian is a graduate of Campbell Law School and completed his undergraduate degree at University of North Carolina - Charlotte.

In 2009 Brian became a North Carolina Certified Family Law Specialist. He is one of a small select group of North Carolina Family Law attorneys who have achieved this distinction. This recognition requires an extensive peer revie process and a separate NC State Bar exam. (NC Bar Board of Specialization).

Brian married Amanda Ormond King in 1996, and they celebrated the expansion of their family when their son was born in 2005. Little sister was a welcome addition in October 2006, just one week before Amanda finished her four year term as a Rutherford County Commissioner. Brian enjoys every minute of life as a doting father; as a parent, his role as a Family Lawyer has taken on new and special meaning. In addition to maintaining a busy private practice, he serves as the Attorney for the Rutherford County Department of Social Services, fighting abuse and neglect in the community.

Brian and Amanda are avidly involved in their church, Florence Baptist in Forest City, both having served as Sunday school teachers and on several committees. Community involvement within Rutherford County is also an important part of life to the King Family, and they actively serve and support several local organizations. Brian spent several years as adjunct faculty at Isothermal Community College, teaching Business Law.

JOHN B. CROTTS

John B. Crotts is the senior attorney with King Law Offices, PLLC. He currently practices in the areas of estate planning, municipal law, civil litigation, and courtroom defense.

John received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Isothermal Community College in Spindale, North Carolina and then received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. He then attended Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia where he earned his Juris Doctor degree and graduated cum laude. While in law school, John was a competitor on the Moot Court competition team where he traveled and competed against other law schools and had the opportunity to argue before Justices of the Virginia and West Virginia Supreme Courts. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Christian Legal Society. John has served as the President of the 29-A Judicial District Bar.

John is a lifelong resident of Rutherford County. He is an active member of Adaville Baptist Church in Spindale where he is a deacon, participates in youth activities, choir, and coaches an Upward Basketball children's team. John lives in Spindale with his wife Lauren.

Attorney Laura Slaughter is an associate attorney with King Law Offices, PLLC. Laura is a passionate advocate for her clients and the community. She currently practices in the areas of criminal law, family law, and civil litigation. Laura is a member of the North Carolina bar. She is a graduate of Campbell University School of Law. Prior to attending law school, she served in Krygyztan as a Peace Corp volunteer for two years, and was a middle and high school teacher in Chatham County North Carolina.

Laura is a member at St. Francis Episcopal, and serves on the Board of Directors of Youth Empowerment, a local program that works with at-risk youth.

Laura enjoys a variety of outdoor sports including horseback riding, kayaking, biking, and hiking.

 

attorney brandon jaynes

Attorney Brandon Jaynes is an associate with King Law Offices, PLLC, currently practicing in areas of civil litigation, courtroom defense, bankruptcy, estate planning, and family law.

Brandon received a Bachelors of Computer Science and a Bachelors of Mathematics from Gardner-Webb University in 2003 where he graduated magna cum laude. While at Gardner-Webb, Brandon was President of both the SIGMA Math Association and the Association for Computing Machinery, Gardner-Webb chapters. In 2006, he was awarded a full scholarship to attend Campbell University's Norman A. Wiggins School of Law, graduating cum laude with his Juris Doctor degree in 2009. While in law school, Brandon was Technology Editor of the Campbell Law Review.

Prior to attending law school, Brandon, a lifelong resident of Western North Carolina, worked in the technology fields over a fifteen year period. He married Meagan Jaynes in 2000 and has two boys, born in 2004 and 2008.

Brandon enjoys a variety of activities which include hiking, photography, SCUBA, programming, and finance. He is a member of MENSA as well as his church in Cleveland County.

 

attorney rusty duncan

RUSTIN B. DUNCAN

Rustin B. “Rusty” Duncan is an associate attorney with King Law Offices, PLLC. He works primarily in the Columbus office lovated in Polk County, NC. Rusty's caseload includes family law, criminal law, civil litigation, estate planning, and disability law.

Rusty received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from The University of South Carolina. He then attended Campbell University School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. Rusty was very active in law school where he was a class representative to the Student Bar Association, Vice President of the Campbell Law Christian Legal Society, Treasurer of the Campbell Law Republicans, and a member of the Campbell Law Federalist Society. He was also a writer for the Campbell Law Observer and had five articles published. Rusty is a member of the North Carolina State Bar.

Rusty is a native and resident of Greenville, South Carolina. He and his wife Anna are active members at Taylors First Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina.
